Betty Ellis, 71

Betty Mae Ellis, 71, of Austin, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, Feb. 18, 2010 at Austin Medical Center.
She was born May 31, 1938 to Leo and Lillian (Hackert) McGowan in Marion, Iowa where she grew up and attended school. She married Delmar Ellis on Sept. 29, 1956 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They made their home on a farm in Mower County where they raised five children. The Lord blessed them with 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren who loved to entertain Betty. A member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and an avid Vikings fan, Betty enjoyed all sports, her flower garden and watching her wrens. She will be missed and remembered for the many, many memories.
Survivors include two daughters, Mischelle (Wayne) Edgar of Austin, Angela Clennon of Greenville, S.C.; three sons, Hugh Ellis of Brownsdale, Glenn (Cynthia) Ellis of California, Delmar (Phyllis) Ellis of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy (Roy) Mrstik of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sharon (Tom) Bassett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jean (Jack) Ciha of Marion, Iowa, Doris Mrstik of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Kenny (Jan) McGowan of Whiting, N.J.; special friend, Marilyn Matter of Austin; many special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar; a grandson; a great-granddaughter and a brother-in-law, Ray Mrstik.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin with Vicar Brian Kruger officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home, Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
