Vincent DeVriendt

Vincent August DeVriendt, 84, of Austin died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at the Austin Medical Center.
Vincent was born Feb. 20, 1925 in Hayfield, Minn. to Edward and Mary (VanHyfte) DeVriendt. On Aug. 22, 1945, he was united in marriage to Emily Elizabeth Hrabak at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Vincent worked at Hormel for 36 years in addition to tending bar at ACC and the Leisure Bar. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Vincent enjoyed numerous fishing trips with grandsons, sons and whoever wanted to go fishing.  He also enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Emily DeVriendt, Austin; children, Vincent Jr. (Laura) DeVriendt, Poolesville, Md., Robert (Dawn) DeVriendt, Austin, Vanessa (Colin) Keller, Wayzata; 11 grandsons, Damian, Donald, Andrew, Jonathan, Jason, Rodney, Christopher, Jessie, Casey, Anthony, Joe; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald DeVriendt, Fridley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy; son, Dan; grandson, Alex.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 7:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
The honorary casket bearer will be Jonathan DeVriendt. The casket bearers will be Damian DeVriendt, Jason DeVriendt, Donald DeVriendt, Andrew DeVriendt, Rodney DeVriendt, Jessie DeVriendt, Christopher DeVriendt, Casey DeVriendt, Anthony Keller, Joe Keller.
