The Austin girls hockey team lost to Rochester Mayo 5-2 on the road Thursday.

The Packers (9-11-2 overall, 5-8-1 Big Nine) scored first on a goal by Alex Larson and they pulled to within 3-2 in the second period when Kennedy Thompson scored a shorthanded goal.

Austin committed six penalties, which gave the Spartans two power play goals.

“I thought we had a good start tonight, but we didn’t come to play,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “We didn’t move our feet and we got beat to the puck. We were trying to catch up to them on most of our penalties.”
