Progressive Hair Salon is planning to expand in the spring, adding two new stylists and an improved experience for customers.

Owner DeAnne Guyette said all the changes are intended to make her customers more comfortable.

“I want to make it a more comfortable setting for my clients,” she said.

Progressive Hair Salon, located at 301 Fourth Ave. NE., Suite B, will take over the unit to the west of the salon and add about 600 square feet. The move won’t require extensive remodeling, as the salon will take over space that is currently vacant.

The expansion will allow Guyette to add two stylists. The salon currently has six stations for stylists — one for Guyette and five leased out to other stylists. Along with adding two stylists, Guyette plans to add private areas for waxings and pedicures.

“I just need more room,” she said.

While the changes will ensure a comfortable experience for customers, Guyette said she wants to modernize the atmosphere of her salon.

Guyette said she hopes the renovations will update the salon’s atmosphere, as Guyette said she wants the salon to look it more elegant and professional.

Some new furniture, decorations and new paint will contribute to a more elegant and professional atmosphere for the salon.

“I want it to feel like you are in the Twin Cities or Rochester,” she said.

Guyette has owned Progressive Hair Salon for about 17 years, and she’s been a stylist for about 30 years. Progressive Hair Salon has been at its Fourth Avenue location for about six years.

“It’s a great location,” she said.

“I’m happy where I’m at, and I’m happy with my crew,” she added.

Guyette plans to start the renovating the new space and rearranging her existing space in March once the temperatures are warmer. She hopes to complete the project and have the full salon open by early April.
