The Blue Devil women’s basketball team topped Western Wisconsin Tech 63-59 in La Crosse Wednesday night.

Riverland (8-6 overall) led by just one with 1:30 left in the game, but Joni Lillo knocked down a pair of free throws to ice it.

Krista Viehauser had 26 points and 18 rebounds to lead RCC.

“We played some decent defense, but we fouled too much,” RCC head coach Suzy Hebrink said. “On offense we were all right, but we just didn’t knock down enough shots.”

The Blue Devils hit just 30 percent (21-for-70) of their field goals and they held WWTC to 22 percent shooting (15-for-66). RCC especially struggled from the three-point line, hitting just one-of-17 from the arc.

The Blue Devils led 31-26 at the break and held a 42-29 advantage early in the first half.
