The Northwestern Singers present their annual winter concert this weekend.

The concert, “Can’t Help Lovin Dat Song,” features Broadway music accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.

“I think it will be a very entertaining and fun show,” said Northwestern Singer Alice Holst.

The Northwestern Singers (NWS) are a group of more than 40 adults — ranging in age from their 20s to 70s — hailing from Austin, Albert Lea and surrounding communities.

Arranged by director Brock Besse, the performance includes Broadway songs from the Lion King, My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate, State Fair, Fiddler on The Roof and more. A rendition of “My Favorite Things,” complete with costumes and props will also be performed.

A children’s choir, composed of elementary age students, will perform a few songs as well, Holst said.

The NWS has performed for more than 50 years for local civic and church functions in Austin and Albert Lea. They also hold four standing concerts annually: a fall benefit concert for youth music programs; a winter concert; a Good Friday concert and a spring concert.

Tickets are available for $12 at HyVee, the Paramount Theatre, Tone Music in Albert Lea and from any NWS member. NWS members also have $2 coupons available.
