Harold Henry Smith, 87, of Austin, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at Clare Bridge Cottage in Owatonna.
Harold was born Feb. 16, 1922 in Johnsburg, Minn. to Fred and Catherine (Goergen) Smith. On Oct. 5, 1948 he was united in marriage to Ruth M. Cummings in Osage, Iowa. 
Harold worked at Hormel Foods, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed gardening, fishing with the boys up North, his dog Jack, and morning coffee at McDonalds with “the guys.”
Survivors include his children, Raymond (Carol Supalla) Smith, Austin, Sue (Tom) Matson, Walker, Steven (Connie) Smith, Austin, Jean (David) LaMont, Austin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Walsh, Lyle; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cummings, Austin, Peg (Harold) Johnson, Austin.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on Sept. 28, 2005; parents; three brothers; one sister; son-in-law, Denny Dreyer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call from 4 to7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one half hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers will be Jacob Smith, Jacob Hines, Chris Dreyer, Rick Johnson, Mike Walsh, Jim Walsh.
