Harold Moseley Finch, 95, of Austin, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2010 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa where he had been a resident since late August. 
He was born Aug. 7, 1914, in St. Louis, Mo. to the Rev. Dr. Frank I. and Lexie (Moseley) Finch. Harold grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Omaha Tech. High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors of Science in Business. He married Mary Annetta McMurray in 1935. Upon his graduation in 1938, Harold, his wife, Mary and their small daughter moved to Austin where he began his long career with the Geo A Hormel Company.
Harold was active in community organizations, serving in various leadership roles. He joined the Austin Country Club in the 1950s and was a lifelong member of the Elks Club, Fidelity Lodge #39, where he served as Worshipful Master of Fidelity Lodge #39 in 1965 and Eminent Commander of St. Bernard Commandery #13 in 1971 and 1980. He also was a member of the Osman Shrine Oriental Band. He was active in the Republican Party in Minnesota and served as chairman of the Mower County Republicans.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia (Norman) Hanevik of St. Paul and Anne (Charles) Helgeland of Franklin, Tenn.; one son, John Finch of Sante Fe, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one great-great-great-grandchild; many other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 74 years, Mary Finch on Nov. 18, 2009; one son, George,  in infancy and his brother, Frank Finch, Jr.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at First Congregational UCC with the Rev. Elizabeth Endicott officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14 at the church. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Lincoln, Neb. The Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
