Elsie Bastyr

Elsie Marie Bastyr, 88, longtime Austin resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at Brighton Gardens in Omaha, Neb.
Elsie was born July 13, 1921 in rural Elko, Minn. to John and Hermina Rezac. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1938. On June 12, 1944 she married Albert T. Bastyr at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale, Minn. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2007. 
Elsie served as Past President of Queen of Angels CCW, Past President of Sacred Heart Hospice Auxiliary and was a member of Birthright.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Lowell) Bayerkohler, Staples, Susan (Dr. Tom) Hilgers, Omaha, Neb., Roger (Susan) Bastyr, Austin, Robert (Joanne) Bastyr, Austin, Michael (Susan) Bastyr, Shoreview, Charles (Barbara) Bastyr, Ontario, Canada; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, John.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one half hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers will be Sam Bastyr, Joe Bastyr, Jim Bastyr, Brad Bayerkohler, Brett Bayerkohler, Michael Hilgers.
Memorials are preferred to Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
