Elnora Kelly

Elnora Helen (Mueller) Kelly, 92, of Austin died Sunday morning, Jan. 10, 2010 at her home in Austin. 
She was born Aug. 2, 1917 to Carl H. and Sophie (Studier) Mueller on a farm near Big Lake, Minn. In 1920, her family moved to a farm two miles west of Nowthen, beside Twin Lakes, near Elk River where they lived for nine years. Elnora was a 4-H club member for 10 years. They moved to Rollingstone  in 1929 where she attended Bear Creek Grade School, followed by Holy Trinity High School in 1929-30, Winona High School for the 1930-31 school year. They moved to a farm at Fremont near Lewiston in 1931. She attended Lewiston High School, graduating in June, 1933 before attending Winona Business College. Elnora went to work for Winona County Extension and AAA offices in Lewiston.  Moving to Austin in 1939, she worked for the Farm Security office for three and a half years. 
She met, dated and fell in love with Kenneth Kay Kelly who she married on Oct. 4, 1940 in Estherville, Iowa. They made their home in Austin until August, 1942 when they moved to Neosho, Mo. where Kenneth was stationed in the Army. She worked at the Extension office in Neosho and at Camp Crowder. While her husband was stationed in India, Elnora and her young son lived at the Mueller farm near Fremont until 1945. Returning to Austin, she worked at the PMA office, Holan Radio and TV, Farm Security and in 1960 at the Social Security office until her retirement on April 28, 1984. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, she belonged to Circle, helping with many annual Mother Daughter Banquets, served on Life and Growth Committee for 12 years and taught Beginners Sunday School for 25 years. She started a PTA at Webster Elementary School and was a Cub Scout leader for two years. Elnora enjoyed family get-togethers and traveling to visit her children, family genealogy, using the computer and current events. She also loved to read and was involved in numerous charity drives.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Kelly, Sr. of Austin; two sons, Kenneth (Janet) Kelly, Jr. of Manheim, Penn. and their children, Donna, Erin and James; Ronald (Jean) Kelly of Austin and their children, Phillip and Angela; daughter, Carol (Clayton) Pike of Billings, Montana and their children, Kelli, Kirsten, Kevin, Kory; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kaitlyn and Michael; sponsored daughter and granddaughter from the Philippines, Vickie (Marner) Tayag and Elnora Kelly Tayag and many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Sophie Mueller; brothers, Alfred and Paul Mueller; sister, Hilda Mueller; sister-in-law, Anna (Boyum) Mueller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Worlein Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Kelly officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.
