Edward Clark

Edward Lewis Clark, 92, of Austin died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 26, 2010 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin. 
He was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Millet, Alberta, Canada, the son of Martin and Bertha (Fleming) Clark. The family moved to Austin where he received his education. On Sept. 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Grace Arlene Haney in Northwood, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Austin where Ed worked for Hormel Foods in the shipping department from 1942 until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a jack-of-all-trades, but especially enjoyed working with wood and building the family home. Grace died on Dec. 19, 2009. Ed entered St. Mark’s Lutheran Home on July 18, 2007.
He is survived by  four children, Barbara (James) Wencl of Owatonna, Ron (Sue) Clark of Austin, Mike (Dana) Clark of Fremont, Neb. and Susie (Kevin) Bauer of Faribault; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Robert (Peggy) Clark; two sisters-in-law, Lois Clark and Dell Clark, both of Austin; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace Clark; a grandson, John; one sister, Beatrice Hull and four brothers, Marvin, Richard, Marty and Leonard.  
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29 at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. 
Honorary casket bearers will be Kelli Wencl, Jennifer Thicke and Melissa Hustvedt. Casket bearers will be Chad Clark, Travis Clark, Matthew Clark, Thomas Wencl, Jason Sandlin and Justin Stevens.  
Memorials may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Building Fund or Alzheimer’s Research.
