Betty Highley

Betty L. Highley, 84, of Austin and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at her home under the care of her daughters. 
Betty Lucille Foust was born July 29, 1925 on the family farm in Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of Archie Elias and Nora (Harbert) Foust. She graduated from the Dows, Iowa Community School with the class of 1943. On Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, Betty was united in marriage to Franklin Arledge Highley at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born:  Linda, Helen, and Debra. 
Betty was the secretary of the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls for many years.
Betty L. Highley is survived by her husband, Franklin Highley of Austin; her daughters, Linda Hayne of Waukee, Iowa, Helen (Randall) Mickelson of Austin, Debra (Donald) Kemp of Urbandale, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Bonnie) Foust of Spencer, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Archie Foust; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Eaton; a sister, Helen (John) Mattern; and two brothers, Leonard (Charlotte) Foust and John (Ione) Foust.
Funeral services for Betty L. Highley will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service time at the church Wednesday before funeral services. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Dows, Iowa.
