Arlene Larson

Arlene Margarite Larson, 84 died Jan. 9, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital from the complications due to Alzheimers.
She was born Jan. 24, 1925 to Mildred and Almar Helleck of rural Blooming Prairie. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. Arlene joined Lawrence Larson in marriage on June 11, 1944. They had six children. Following their marriage, they lived, farmed and raised their children primarily in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa. Arlene taught country school prior to marriage.
She enjoyed family gatherings, entertaining, dancing, a good game of cards, winter visits to Arizona, sunrises and sunsets.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Lawrence Larson; her six children, Daniel Larson of Des Moines, Iowa, Karmen Artmann of Denver, Colo., Kathy Walton of Williston, N.D., Steven Larson of Ellsworth, Wis., Mary Fisher of St. Peter, Minn. and Leif Larson of Eugene, Ore.; and her siblings, Hazel Egtvedt, Dorothy Kittelson, Myron Helleck, Lorraine Eddie, Connie Cedargren, David Helleck and Cheryl Larsen. 
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Almar Helleck and her brother, Thomas, of Waco, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 30456 Mower-Freeborn Rd in Austin, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010.
