Albert ‘Dick’ E. Cook, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at his residence in Rochester, Minn.
Albert Eugene Richard Cook was born June 23, 1935 in St. Paul, Minn. Dick attended school in St. Paul until he was 16 and then he moved to Rochester. He then attended Central High School in Rochester. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marines. Dick married Mary Klapperick on Oct. 29, 1960 in Austin. Dick worked as a Union Sheet Metal worker in Rochester and retired at the age of 62.
Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking for the pancake breakfast at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester; and he volunteered for the Eagle’s Cancer Telethon for many years. Dick was a member of the Eagle’s Club in Rochester and the American Legion.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary of Rochester, Minn.; two sons, Albert E. Jr (Lisa) Cook of Blaine, Minn. and Paul (Kim) Cook of Apple Valley, Minn.; one daughter, Julie (Dan) Squires of Rochester, Minn.; four grandchildren, Lauren Cook and Bailey, Dayton and Halle Squires; two brothers, James Cook of Lindstrom, Minn. and William Cook of Coppers Cove, Texas; and a sister, Barbara.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave. NW, at 11 a.m. with Father Joseph Keefe officiating. There will be a visitation on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 92.
Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.
