Tour of Homes returns Sunday

Those who need a little inspiration to begin decorating for the holidays are in luck.
There are still tickets left for the American Red Cross second annual Holiday Tour of Homes. The Mower County Chapter of the Red Cross hosts the fundraiser tour Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
“These are all very unique, different, interesting and gorgeous homes,” said Brigitte Campbell, executive assistant at the Mower County Chapter.
“People will be able to experience the holiday season through the eyes of these homeowners on the tour,” she said.
The tour features the homes of Cynthia and Greg Low, Jan and Mike O’Connor, Kaye and Scott Perry, Pam and Patrick Retterath and Reflections Assisted Living, owned by Gary T. Corcoran.
Tickets come with a map of the homes, and tour-goers can stop at any of the homes any time during the event.
“There is a real range of homes to see,” Campbell said. “The Low’s is newer construction. It was built less than 10 years ago. The assisted living property was built in the first part of the 1900s. And, the O’Connor home has an especially neat story behind it.”
Those who want to hear the story, or learn about any of the homes will have to take the tour.
Red Cross volunteers will be stationed in each room of each home Sunday to provide information and history, Campbell said.
Proceeds benefit the general fund of the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross. It is one of their largest fundraisers of the year.
Tickets can be purchased at the Mower County Chapter office at 305 Fourth Ave. NW, Berg’s Nursery, Super Fresh, Dolan’s Landscape, Johnson Floral, The Hardy Geranium, Home Federal Savings Bank, HyVee and Sterling Main Street. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door of any of the homes Sunday.
