Michael G.Vilt, 64, of Santa Clara, died on Dec. 18, 2009, at Kaiser Hospital-Santa Clara from heart failure.
He was born Oct. 22, 1945 in Austin, the son of Edward C.Vilt and Harriett (Tostenson) Thorsheim. He graduated from Austin High School in 1963 and Austin Community College in 1965. He moved to California in 1970 where he worked and lived the remainder of his life.
Survivors include his brother, Edward (Linda) Vilt, Austin; nephew Michael  (Erin) Holgate of Woodbury, Minn.;  nieces, Melissa (Jamison Wessels) Holgate, Granada, Minn.,  Elizabeth (Kevin) LaFrance, Albert Lea, Minn., Andrea Vilt, Austin,  Stephanie Vilt, Mankato, Minn;  one great-nephew and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Bea Hill, in April of 2009.
A family memorial service will be planned at a later date with burial at the Bohemian Cemetery at Myrtle, Minn.
Arrangements and cremation by the Neptune Society of Central California.
If desired, memorials may be made to a local food shelf or the Humane Society in his memory.
