LETTER: Disaster drill possible through many volunteers
Published 6:00 am Monday, December 7, 2009
We would like to extend a thank you to all who helped make the American Red Cross, Mower County Chapter, full scale disaster exercise such a success. A special thank you goes out to the many homeowners who allowed us to put stakes in their yards, the Austin Fire Department, the Austin Ham Radio Club, the First United Methodist Church, HyVee and Wal-Mart. Also thanks to Daniel Helgelson, Todd Moran, Steve Wold and all of their Riverland students who participated in this event. And, of course the event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the dozens of volunteers who participated. We feel that the event was a large success and provided a wonderful training opportunity for our disaster volunteers. These preparedness activities would not be possible without the financial support of the members of Mower County. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission.
