Ethel “Andy” Anderson

Ethel “Andy” Louise Anderson, 79, of Austin died Saturday morning, Dec. 19, 2009, at her home in Austin.  
She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Austin, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Noble) Klingfus. She received her education in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1948. She continued her education at the Austin Junior College with a degree in nursing. On Oct. 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Roger Anderson at the Lutheran church parsonage in Blooming Prairie, Minn. They made their home Austin where Ethel worked as a LPN at St. Olaf Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, spending time with her family and friends and offering advice. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Anderson of Austin; four children, Dianne (David) Marx of South Sioux City, Neb., Vickie (Martin) Hansford of Sioux City, Iowa, Russ (Jo Lynn) Anderson of Rochester and Sheila (Robert) Johnson of Austin; eight grandchildren, Shawn Udenberg, Erich Marx, Shane Marx, Sari Payton, Josie Monnier, Christy Anderson, Jessie Anderson and Amber Kraft; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (John) Flink of Rose Creek and many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Donna Hatfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Ogilvie officiating. Interment will follow the service at Red Oak Lutheran Cemetery, rural Austin. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 22 at the Worlein Funeral Home of Austin and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Casketbearers will be Jerry Flink, Jay Flink, Jim Flink, Dean Anderson, David Anderson and Chad Wangen. Memorials are preferred to the family.
