Area churches will hold Christmas Day dinners for those who can’t spend the holiday with family and friends.

St. Olaf Church will host its 12th annual Christmas Day Dinner in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 301 First St. NW. A free traditional Christmas dinner will be served with turkey and all the trimmings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. People can sign up at the Senior Center or St. Olaf Church by calling 437-1700.

Organizer Gladys Bliss said the meal is open to couples or people who are alone on Christmas.

“We’ll feed them until the food is gone,” she said.

The meal is not intended for large families, but Bliss said there are a few exceptions, and the church will not turn people away. Transportation to the meal is available upon request.

A meal will also be held in Spring Valley at Faith United Methodist Church, 617 Maple Lane. The Christmas dinner will start at noon and is open to anyone, especially those who are alone at Christmas.

The meal is sponsored by the Spring Valley Area Ministerial Association. To make reservations call Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 346-7251 or Faith United Methodist Church at 346-2830. The number to call on Christmas Day is 346-7153. Meal deliveries and transportation are available upon request.
