Adams resident elected to state pork board

The Minnesota Pork Board elected new members for 2010 at their annual meeting Dec. 16.

Adams resident Pat Thome was elected to a one-year term on the board. Those attending the meeting also named 12 people to determine how to invest Minnesota’s portion of the mandatory Pork Checkoff.

Other individuals serving on the MPB include Curt Johnson of Jasper, Jim Merritt of Elbow Lake, Mary Peichel of Fairfax, Tim Waibel of Courtland, Doug Wenner of St. Peter, Meg Freking of Jackson, Bill Crawford of Fairmont, Pat FitzSimmons of Dassel,Jackie Tlam of Dunnell, Sheila Schmid of Sleepy Eye and Nate Potter of Springfield.

Other members retired from service on the board: Lynn Becker of Fairmont, Pam Gierke of Villard, Burt Norell of St. Peter, Doug Stade of Eden Valley and Craig Mensink of Preston.

The MPB works on behalf of Minnesota’s pork producing families investing Pork Checkoff funds into research, promotion and education efforts across the state.
