The Grand Meadow football team beat Alden/Conger 49-28 Saturday in the nine man section semifinals in GM Saturday.
The Superlarks took a 37-6 lead to halftime as they broke open a few big plays against the defense of A/C.
Caleb Leichtnam ran for 244 yards and four scores on 20 carries for GM and Michael Gehling ran for 119 yards and TD on 12 carries. Leichtnam also hit Gehling for a 59-yard touchdown.
“They play real close to the line of scrimmage and they stop you a lot, but they can also give up big plays,” GM head coach Gary Sloan said.
Gehling and Leichtnam are both over 1,000 yards rushing on the season now.
The Superlarks (9-1 overall) will host No. 2 seeded Houston (8-2 overall) Friday at 7 p.m.
Houston, which beat Spring Grove 24-21 Saturday, beat GM in the regular season.
“We were hoping for a rematch with them,” Sloan said.
