Roy Fickbohm

Roy Everett Fickbohm, 99, of Austin, Minn. died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Austin Medical Center in Austin.

He was born Dec. 31, 1909 in to George and Inez (Shuck) Fickbohm in Union County, S.D. He attended the Prospect Hills country school in Union County, S.D. Roy was married to Gladys Numsen on March 23, 1933 in Alcester, S.D. In 1946 the Fickbohms moved from Akron, Iowa to the Austin area where Roy farmed until retiring in 1977. Gladys died in December of 1984. Roy was married to Edna Anfinson in 1988, and she died in 1994.

Roy had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. Roy was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a strong supporter of the church. He also taught Sunday school and Bible classes as well as volunteering for various charitable organizations.

Roy is survived by his granddaughters, Denise and Marty Rennells, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Janine Bartlett, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Kodian Anderson, Desahna Belden, Meghan Rennells, Damian Rennells, great-great-grandchildren, Ryan Drees, Rachael Drees; brother, Clarence Fickbohm, Haywarden, Iowa; sisters, Iva Seimers, Alcester, S.D., Violet Seimers, Alcester, S.D., Wilma Seimers, Sioux Falls, S.D., Opal Keiser, Haywarden, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Darlene Johnson, Lyle, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his wives, Gladys and Edna; son James Fickbohm; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at the Clasen-Jordan Chapel with the Reverend Dan Kahl officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and for one hour before the service on Tuesday morning.
Organist will be Janet Gilbertson.

Casket Bearers will be, Charles Hanf, Bruce Hanf, Duane Fickbohm, Duane Hanf, Damian Rennells and Kodian Anderson.
