Lenard Clark

Lenard Dean Clark, 74, of Austin died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born July 15, 1935 in Brownsdale, Minn. to Martin and Bertha (Fleming) Clark.

A 1954 graduate of Austin High School, Lenard also graduated from the Vo-Tec Automotive School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1958. On June 21, 1958 he married Lois Falck at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin. Lenard was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Austin where he was an usher and greeter for more than 30 years. Lenard started work at Lars Standard and went on to be the owner and operator of Len’s Standard for a number of years. He worked at the George A. Hormel Co. from 1967 to 1985. After leaving Hormel, he worked numerous jobs until he became a proud employee of the Mayo Healthcare system. He retired from Mayo at the age of 62.

Lenard was preceded in death by his parents; sister Beatrice Hull; brothers, Richard, Marvin and Martin; and one infant sister.

Lenard is survived by his wife, Lois Clark, Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne (Ron) Ripley, Austin, Gwen (Jeff) Maag, Tripp, S.D., Roxanne (Terry) Nelson, Austin; grandchildren, Adria (Raul) Vargas, Austin, Clinton Ripley (Anna Nybo), Austin, Meghan Grue (Nathan Andersen), Sioux Falls, S.D., Justin Maag, Sturgis, S.D., Joshua Maag, Little Rock, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Gabriel, and Valerie Vargas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward (Grace) Clark, Austin, Robert (Margaret) Clark, Austin, Verdell Clark, Austin; cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at St. Johns Lutheran Church with the Reverend Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
