James Augustin

James Augustin, 68, died at his home in Austin Thursday evening, Nov. 19, 2009, following a fight with cancer for more than two years. 

James Eugene Augustin was born Oct. 26, 1941 in Austin to George and Elta (Meier) Augustin. Jim graduated from Elkton High School. On Aug. 18, 1962 he married Linda Motle at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Sargeant. He lived in California for awhile before moving to Austin in 1966. He worked at Hormel Foods until 1979 and then went on to own his own business until he retired. Jim loved working with electronics and he put on seminars about electronics. He liked to work with CB radios and computers and just enjoyed having “coffee with the guys.”

He is survived by his wife Linda, Austin; three daughters, Lisa (Billie) Degnan, Utica, Debra (Andrew) Mitson, Washington C. H., Ohio, Leone (Rick) Borden, Mesa, Ariz., one son, Tim (Debbie) Augustin , Gaithersburg, Md.; five grandchildren, Tina May Hyland, Jessika Rae Hyland, Matthew James Borden, Jamie Michael Borden, Analise Rae Mitson; two great-grandchildren, Parker James Borden, Zakkary James Hyland; one sister, Ruth (Chester) Sande, Bloomington; one brother, Vic (Debbie) Augustin, Austin; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George; and one sister, Loretta.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Friends may call at the Worlein Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Sargeant.
