Doris Anne Karow, 81, of Owatonna died Oct. 29, 2009 in her home.

Doris was born in Faribault, Minn. on July 18, 1928 to Earl and Mary Alice (Jeno) Pofahl. She graduated from Faribault’s Bethlehem Academy in 1946. Doris married Wayne Karow in 1947 and following their marriage, they lived in Owatonna. Doris was a homemaker while her children were young, and once they were raised she worked 22 years for Truth Hardware, until retirement in 1992.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and baking.

Survivors include her son: Gerard (Delores) Karow, Albert Lea, Minn.; five daughters: Sharon (Bert) Dwyer, Owatonna, Minn.; Denise Hendley, Mankato, Minn.; Nancy Pena, Owatonna, Minn.; Diane Fischer, Owatonna, Minn.; Jeanette Carranza, Austin, Minn.; former son-in-law: Carlos Carranza, Austin, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Vivian (Richard) Jones, Faribault, Minn., Joan Minke, Long Prairie, Minn.; two brothers: Earl (Francis) Pofahl, Faribault, Minn.; Robert Pofahl, Sun City, Ariz. and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Bongers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 1, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. The rosary will be recited prior to the visitation at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday at the church. An hour of visitation will also precede the funeral at church on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.

Memorials are preferred to Owatonna’s St. Mary School.
