David Bushman

David Delmont Bushman, age 63, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Austin Medical Center.

David was born on Dec. 12, 1945, in Austin, to Ezra and Myra (Everett) Bushman. David attended special education school in Austin. He lived with his mother, until 1990 when he changed his residence to Breckenridge Care Home, owned and operated by Sharon and Joe DeClue. They so kindly and gently adopted him into their lives. David was so well cared for by Sharon and Joe along with their children and spouses, Michelle and Joe DeClue, Josh and ToniaDeClue, and Ruth and Corey Wittmer. He couldn’t have asked for a better family. In addition to the DeClue family, David was cared for by others he considered his family, Tracy and Jodi Jeno, Nicole Hansen, Amy Alcala, Ron Newkirk, Katie Tang and Samantha Hegna. David was also carefully watched over by his social worker, Emily Bartley. He loved and enjoyed the time he lived with his special friends, housemates, and brothers, Joseph Curran, Kevin Brooks, and Paul Denisen. Each and every one of these special people gave their heart and soul to David. They are appreciated beyond words.

David started work at Oak Grove DAC in the early 1960’s. He transferred to Cedar Valley Services along with his manager in 1989. He was honored in 1999 for 20 years of service and retired in 2002.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church for many years with his mother.

Survivors include his Breckenridge family; sister: CoraLee Emanuel (Bushman); nephews: Brad (LeAnn) Emanuel, Tony (Karen) Emanuel, Terry (Rhonda) Emanuel.; nieces: Melenee Emanuel, Julie Emanuel, Cathy (Tony) Leuer and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Daniel Emanuel, and Aunt Janice Everett.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 2 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve DeFor is officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
