Brett Mireau

Brett C. Mireau passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Brett was born Dec. 23, 1947 in Hemet, Calif. to Edward and Norma Mireau. He grew up in San Jacinto, Calif. Brett joined the Marines July 21, 1967 and served in Vietnam and Okinawa. He received the purple heart and many other achievements during his service. Brett was a Lance Corporal and Acting Police Officer during the time of his service. He left the Marines on Dec. 16, 1978and moved to Minnesota to pursue a different direction in his life. He became a welder for the King Company in Owatonna and held various welding jobs in southern Minnesota. His last place of employment was Larson Manufacturing in Albert Lea, Minn.

Brett was the perfect husband, wonderful father and grandfather, with a heart that wouldn’t stop giving. He enjoyed his motorcycle, building things with his hands and spending time with his family.

Brett will be sadly missed by his wife Kimberly and son Eddie of Austin, Minn. Other survivors include step-daughter and family Jessica, Chris and Lukas Tabor; and step-son Curtis Smith of Austin.

There will be a celebration of life for Brett Nov. 7, 2009 at the Mireau household from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a private burial at Fort Snelling at a later date.
