Arlene Jost

Arlene M. Jost, 92, of Brownsdale, Minn. died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at the Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield, Minn.

She was born Sept. 27, 1917 in Albert Lea, Minn. daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Jewitt) Buss. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked for Western Union in Grand Forks, N.D. and Minneapolis, Minn.
Arlene was married to John Jost on Nov. 1, 1947 in Albert Lea. They resided in Chicago, Ill., until moving to Austin in 1952. In 1960, they moved to Brownsdale. She was employed as a secretary in the installment loan department of the 1st National Bank of Austin. Arlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brownsdale. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Austin Bowler’s Hall of Fame.

She is survived by son, Mark (Shelly) Jost, Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren: John Jost, Boulder, Colo.; Carolyn Jost, Lafayette, Ind.; and brother: Howard Buss, Bakersfield, Calif.; and brother: Dale (Mary) Buss, Sacramento, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, John.

A service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Brownsdale United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea.

The family prefers memorials, either the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
