Vera Peak

Vera I. Peak, 89, of Hollandale and formerly of Austin, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea.

Vera was born April 16, 1920 in Wolsey, S.D. to Elmer E. and Hilma E. (Anderson) Pierson. On March 4, 1930 she married Warren Sibbers. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1981. On April 24, 1982 she married Francis Peak. He preceded her in death in July 2009.

Vera was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church until 1982. She taught Sunday School there. For the past 27 years she lived in Hollandale and was a member of the Hollandale Reform Church. She did home health care, was a rural postal carrier and she loved to garden. Vera was an avid reader, loved puzzles, made quilts and volunteered on mission trips to Kentucky. She was a member of Good Sam’s Camping. She loved to travel and journaled during her travels.

Survivors include her children, Duane (Karen) Sibbers, Cadott, Wisc., Carole (Bob) Shankland, Grand Rapids, Minn., Connie (Jim) Erickson, Rochester, Minn., Donna Sibbers, Minneapolis; grandchildren, Brian, Lisa, Mark, Steve, Jon, Sue, Kim and Kerry; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Ogilvie officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
