LETTER: Library begins effort to help employee
Published 7:18 am Wednesday, October 14, 2009
One of the Austin Public Library’s employees, Darla Tufte, lost her home to a devastating fire on Oct. 6. Fortunately, no one was injured, but her large family lost all their worldly possessions when their home burned to the ground.
The Red Cross is providing immediate assistance, but this is very short-term. Losing everything is a terrible financial blow. The Salvation Army and her friends can and will help her round up a lot of things, but those resources only go so far, and there is a lot that simply has to be purchased.
Library staff will be happy to pass on to Darla well wishes, cards, and financial support. Gift cards (for example, to Wal-Mart) and cash are being collected for her at the library to help her meet her immediate needs.
Our library would be nothing special if it weren’t for our great employees. Thank you in advance for helping us support one of them in great need.
