John Theodore Keim

“Ted” Keim, 93, of Dexter and formerly of Spring Valley and Lake City, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 at the Austin Medical Center in Austin.

Ted was born June 29, 1916 in Mansfield, Minn. to George Keim and Lena (Wimmer) Keim. He attended and graduated from Spring Valley High School and was united in marriage to Harriett Anderson on April 12, 1942 in Grand Meadow. She passed away in September 1982. Ted owned Grand Meadow Grain, worked for Quarve-Anderson Construction in Rochester and later drove truck. He loved to collect things, go to auctions, fishing, boating and snowmobiling.

Ted was extremely musical; he was a member of the German Band in high school and was able to play most instruments from sound. He especially enjoyed playing his Stradivarius violin. Ted was a good friend, loved his family and was always the life of the party.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Keim of Dexter, Gary (LaDonna) Keim of Grand Meadow and Kim (Sue) Keim of Lake City; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Edna Schulz. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Dorthea; and three brothers, George, Herman and Albert.

Funeral services for John Theodore “Ted” Keim will be held 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 10, 2009 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Ann Siverling officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley from 11 a.m. until time of service.
