Gary Schwartz, national director for the Izaak Walton League of America, presented Verneice Beckel with the Judge John C. Tobin Award at the Austin Chapter at the Steak Cookout Wednesday.

The Tobin Award is given to dedicated members — the ones who show up for all the meeting, sign up first for work crews, serve on committees and make the organization run more smoothly.

Verneice Beckel was Chapter 10’s secretary from 2004 through 2008.  She managed the responsibilities of secretary with grace and clarity. Her efforts made the chapter run smoothly.

She is a constant volunteer for all of Chapter 10’s fundraising events which include five steak cookouts a year and the annual Wild Game Feed.

As one of the few active women in Chapter 10, her voice is one of importance.  Her dedication, spirit and positive attitude are always appreciated by chapter members.
