Gail A. Hummel,78, of Austin, died Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Austin Medical Center. She died peacefully, and was surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 10, 1931 to Ruth and Lawrence Mead, of Austin. She graduated from Austin High School and remained in Austin until her death.

She was married to Leo Hummel and had five children. She enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with her family.

Survivors include his children, Leanne (Richard) Poshusta, Diane Hummel, Tom (Margie) Hummel and Melissa (Steve) Wilson. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, Jessica and Derek Poshusta, Travis and Lizzie Mataya, Amalie and Stephanie Hummel, David and Paige Wilson; great-grandchildren, Cody ,Emma, Cole, Cade, Nic, Kelsey and Kylie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; daughter, Suzanne; sister, Joan; and grandchild, Tyler.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Oct. 15, 2009, at Mayer Funeral Home.
