Arlene Bock

Arlene Bock, age 83, of Blooming Prairie, died at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, Minn. Friday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2009.

Arlene Emma Kettner was born May 5, 1926 to Ernest and Ella (Peterson) Kettner in Truman, Minn. She graduated from Truman High School in 1944. She married Edgar D. Bock on Dec. 16, 1945 in Truman. Edgar graduated from University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1952. Dr. Edgar and Arlene Bock made their home in Blooming Prairie in 1952 where he practiced dentistry until 1988 and Arlene was a homemaker for their two children, Susan and Valerie. Edgar passed away on Oct. 25, 2002.

Arlene was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie where she was involved in many activities and was also was active in the Girl Scouts. Arlene enjoyed reading, bird watching, knitting, and doing Norwegian stitchery. She also liked playing bridge, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include daughters, Susan (Bruce) Johnson, Prior Lake, Valerie Cover, Eagan; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Johnson; brother, Willard Kettner, Truman, brother-in-law, Richard Bock, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ella Kettner, and her husband, Dr. Edgar Bock.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 8, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Rev. Heidi Heimgartner and Rev. Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Musicians will be Chris Butler and Betty Ingvaldson.
