In its first “Tennis Tailgate” event, the Pacelli girls tennis team fell to Stewartville 5-2 Saturday.
The Shamrocks were led by a win from Lisa Johnen at the No. 1 singles position. Johnen won her match 6-1, 6-0, while Pacelli also received a win at No. 4 singles when Steph Kocer topped her opponent 6-2, 2-6 (12-10).
“Stewartvile is just a deep and solid team,” said Pacelli coach Mark Henderson. “It really shows in the strength of their doubles teams. We had a good effort today, and it makes us better playing teams of this caliber. We lost to them 6-1 last time, so there was some improvement today.”
Pacelli’s next match is Tuesday, when the Shamrocks host Shattuck-St. Mary at Paulson Courts at 4:30 p.m.
