The Riverland Community college men’s soccer team made history with it’s first ever win when it topped Crossroads College 5-1 in Albert Lea Monday.
The Blue Devils (1-3-1 overall) played to a 1-1 tie in the first half and Jovanny Santibanez took over in the second half, netting four scores.
“This win shows you that when you work hard, good things happen,” RCC head coach said Soner Dogan, who was given a shower from the water bucket by his team after the match.
Earlier this season the Blue Devils tied Crossroads 1-1. But they were the better team Monday as they outshot their opponents 24-12.
“I told my guys this game would show if we were improving or going backwards,” Dogan said. “It shows we are on the right track, but we still have room for improvement.”
Tan Do had a first half goal for RCC and goal keeper Jared Jon Nordaas had 11 saves.
