Michelle M. Meyer, 44, of Owatonna died September 17, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Plainview, Texas.
Michelle was born February 5, 1965, daughter of Michael and Mary (Dralle) Schmitz in Austin, Minn. Michelle attended elementary school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Adams, Minn. She was a member of the graduating class of 1983 of Southland High School in Adams. After high school she attended the College of St. Teresa in Winona and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Math. She was united in marriage to Mark Meyer on November 24, 1990 at Sacred Heart in Adams. The couple made their home in Owatonna, and together, had four children. Their daughter Elaina preceded them in death in 1999. Michelle worked in computer support for the grain industry, most recently employed by Cenex Harvest States in Inver Grove Heights. She traveled for her job. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the St. Teresa’s Alumni Association. Her hobbies included gardening, decorating and watching her family’s activities. She was very involved with volunteering for many community activities. She is survived by her husband Mark and daughters Olivia, Laura, and Joe, who are all at home. Her mother Mary Schmitz, siblings David (Peggy) Schmitz, Bill (Bette) Schmitz, Alan (Paula) Schmitz, Susan (David) Lagerstedt, all of Adams. Father and Mother-in-law Jerome (Sharon) Meyer of Coon Rapids, Brother-in-law Paul (Tanya) Meyer of Apple Valley, sister-in-law Maria (Eric) Hanson of New Hope, MN. Many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Michael in 1996.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. John Sauer officiating. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, September 22, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 810 S. Cedar, Owatonna. There will be a 3:45 p.m. parish Rosary at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams, Minn. The visitation will continue one hour before the funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday.
