Mary H. (Walsh) Dack, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 in Seattle.
She was born Jan. 27, 1916 to John and Clara (Enright) Walsh in Austin. She went to Burr Oaks school in Austin and worked at the Hormel Foods plant in labeling.
Mary was known for telling her family and friends that she kissed the first can of Spam off the line. Mary was married to John L. Dack for more than 60 years. She met him when she went to Seattle to visit her sister. She ended up marrying John and staying in Seattle, where she was involved in a local Cathedral.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Edward and Jack; and four sisters-in-law, Nelly, Edith, Marie, Rose and Faye.
Her survivors include her husband, John L. Dack; daughter, Kathleen Dorgan; granddaughter, Theresa (Clarence) Hein; great-great-granddaughter Alexis; sisters, Luella Asholdgrafer of Austin, Dorothy Weis of Austin, Irene Eastlee of Stewartville; and brothers, Paul Walsh of Paducah, Ky., and Clair Walsh of Vancouver, Wash.
