Lela Conway

Lela Katherine Conway, 83, of Tonganoxie, Kan., formerly of Austin, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Lela was born on Oct. 26, 1925, the daughter of William and Edith Woodard Wheeler. She married James H. Conway on June 28, 1942 in Austin. She worked as a printer at Kansas University Printing Services. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Society and the Senior Bowling League. She also volunteered at the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Howard Conway, in 1944.
Survivors include her husband, James Conway, of the home; three sons, Michael, Kansas City, Mo., John, Loveland, Colo., and Kelly Conway, Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Conway, Tonganoxie, and Jeanne Conway Murry, Olathe, Kan.; sister, Mary Reinhart, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or Multiple Sclerosis Society c/o Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O.
