Harold Hellickson, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, Minn..
Harold was born March 5, 1921 in Spring Valley, Minn. to Lindeman and Cora (Vikse) Hellickson. He proudly served in the Coast Guard from 1943-1946 and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Harold married Virginia Mundt on July 10, 1942 in New Jersey. He worked for the City of Rochester for 36 years in the public utilities department.
Harold was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for 64 years. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Wisconsin. Harold also enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and polka music.
Harold is survived by two children, Sandra (Raymond) Clement, of Weyerhaeuser, Wis., and Sherry (Bruce) Hill, of Dakota, Minn.; a special friend, Nora Gehrking, of Chatfield, Minn.; four siblings, Roger Hellickson, of Spring Valley, George (Kathy) Hellickson, of Rochester, Arlis Risius, of Austin, and Loren Hellickson, of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Clement, of Rochester, Michael Clement, of Eagan, Minn., Linsey Hill, of Winona, and Melissa (Luke) Marble, of Atlanta; two step-grandchildren, Brent (Cheri) Hill, of La Crescent, Minn., and Jeff Hill, of La Crosse, Wis.; four great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; and a great grandson, Corbin.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 Third Ave. S.E. with Pastor Norman Wahl officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
