George Klingfus

George John Klingfus, age 60, of Austin, died Sunday morning, Sept. 20, 2009 at Austin Medical Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1949 to Henry August and Hilda Agnes (Aslakson) Klingfus in Austin, where he grew up and attended school. He married Elfie Hohentanner on Oct. 7, 1968 in Munich, Germany. George was an International Representative for United Auto Workers. They made their home in Austin where he belonged to St. Edward’s Catholic Church and Cedar Valley Conservation Club. He loved fishing, old cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles and target shooting.
Survivors include his wife, Elfie, of Austin; two sons, Dave Klingfus, of Jena, Germany, and Tom (Becky) Klingfus of Austin; three grandchildren, Blake, Jack and Alec; brothers, Jerome (Laurie) Klingfus of Austin; Darrell (Nancy) Klingfus, of Northwood, Iowa; half-brother, Raymond (Gail) Klingfus, of Osage, Iowa; half-sister, Ida Mae (Richard J.) Lee, of Austin; brother-in-law, Thomas Brewster, of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Henry, and a sister, Bonnie Anderley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Austin with The Reverend Jon Moore officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Austin.
