A small fire Tuesday at International Paper resulted in an evacuation of the building, but not much more.

The Austin Fire Department responded to the fire a little after 4 p.m. According to Fire Chief Dan Wilson, the fire originated in an extraction machine that removes paper particles from the process of making corrugated cardboard.

“This was a very minor fire,” Wilson said.

The fire was big enough to trip the fire alarms, but not enough to set off the sprinkler system.

Employees were able to return inside soon afterward.
