Eleanor Tieden

Eleanor Helen Bakkedahl was born Sept. 21, 1914, the daughter of Knute Lars (Mathilda Mae Rouhoff) Bakkedahl in rural Dodge County.
Ellie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended school at District 61 in Westfield Township, Dodge County and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1931. She graduated from Normal Training (teacher training) at Dodge Center in 1932. She taught in rural schools in Dodge and Mower counties.
Eleanor married Robert E. Tieden on Aug. 18, 1935. Four children were born of their union: Donald, Barbara, Bonnie and Michael. They were Jersey dairy farmers in rural Hayfield for many years and DHIA Dairy Milk Testers for 13 years. In 1990, Bob and Ellie moved into Hayfield. Ellie was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hayfield, and an active member of Hayfield Senior Citizens, WELCA and Hope Circle.
Eleanor was an excellent cook, enjoyed embroidery, reading and watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings on television. She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. She was an inspiration to many during her lifetime.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Donald D. (Mae) Tieden, Murrieta, Calif., and grandchildren, Debbie Carter, Donald Tieden, Jr. and Dawn Hephner; daughter, Barbara Musolf, Hayfield, and grandchildren, Patrick Musolf, Janette (Warren) Hegna, Carol (Kevin) Cady, and Richard Musolf; daughter, Bonnie (Frank) Dewitt, Brookine Station, Mo., and grandchildren, Brenda (Jim) Wagoner, Peggy (Gregg) Gunderson, Terry Halvorson, Robert (Teresa) Halvorson; and son, Michael (Jan) Tieden, Brooklyn Center, Minn., and grandchildren, Christine and Nicholas Tieden; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, on March 25, 1996; sister, two brothers and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Eleanor Helen Tieden will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 First St. S.E., Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. N.E. in Hayfield.
