Dolores Bartlett, age 79, of Austin, died Saturday Sept. 26, 2009 at the Austin Medical Center.
Dolores was born April 13, 1930 in Austin to Melvin and Maybelle Webber. She married Frank Lueck in 1950 and had four children. Dolores and Frank divorced in 1968. She remarried and was divorced again in 1973.
Afterward, she led a gypsy’s life and settled in California until 1990 when she moved back to Austin.
Dolores loved music from Sarah Vaughan to Supertramp. She was an accomplished singer who loved to perform and brought the house down with a tender ballad or a rousing blues number. Dolly was a larger-than-life personality who could be utterly charming or totally maddening — to quote from her favorite song “Embraceable You,” “You and you alone bring out the gypsy in me.”
She was preceded in death by her son Daniel Lueck.
She is survived by her children Allison (Todd) Anderson of Austin, Teresa (Michael) Bradley of Tacoma, Wash., Leslie Lueck (Frank Fox) of Shelton, Wash.; her grandchildren, Danielle and Jett Bradley; and great-grandson, Riley.
Her daughters would like to thank Ike Hendrikson for his friendship and care. They would also like to thank their cousin Gina Anderson for all of her help.
No services are planned. Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
