The Blooming Prairie boys used balance to win their own seven-team invite Tuesday in BP.
While Adam Driessen took fourth and Jake Elwood took fifth, the Awesome Blossoms had five runners finish within each a minute of each other.
“Our balance is what carried us over (second place) W/E/M and (third place) Hayfield,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “Our pack was well in front of their fifth runners.
It was the second straight year the Blossoms won the BP Invite.
Hayfield’s Nathan Conroy won the race, while the Pacelli team took sixth place.
Michael Bergstrom of Pacelli took ninth overall for his third straight top 10 finish. Logan Finnegan took 22nd as Pacelli’s No. 2 runner and Drew Chapek moved up to No. 3 as he finished 34th overall.
The BP girls took third behind Medford and Hayfield, which took second. Pacelli was sixth.
“It was a good meet for the girls and there wasn’t a huge difference between our best and fifth runner,” Bruns said.
The Pacelli girls took sixth and had two runners in the top 10 as eighth grader Madeline Kraemer took eighth and Annie Holtz took 10th.
“Our girls are continuing to make improvement,” Pacelli head coach Jim Parlin said.
