Winnie E. Swank, 74
Winnie E. Swank, 74, of Austin, died on Aug. 20, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Winnie was born April 17, 1935 in Austin to Ted and Marvel (Potter) Kolb, the oldest of six children. She lived in Austin her entire life, graduating from St. Augustine High School (Pacelli) in 1953. On Nov. 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to Ronald Swank at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. 
Winnie worked as a bookkeeper at Kinsman’s Floral and Johnson Floral, which became the family flower expert to go to. She also worked as a secretary for the United Way and for an insurance agent in Austin. Winnie enjoyed friendships over the years from competing in a bowling league, card club and Monday night women’s golf league. She and husband Ron were avid Twins fans, watching many games together.
Winnie dearly loved the times spent in Plymouth, Minn. and Springfield, Ore. to be with their children and grandchildren. Win and Ron enjoyed a few years of garage hunting for antiques and participating in local craft shows.  She also crocheted many blankets as gifts and for display at the local fair.
Survivors include a son, Brad (Evelyn) Swank, Springfield, Ore.; daughter, Renae (Jeff) Aspenson, Plymouth, Minn.; grandsons, Austin Swank and Dan Aspenson; granddaughter, Ashley Swank; brothers, Randy Kolb, St. Cloud, Minn., Dick (Patty) Kolb, New Hope, Minn.; sister, Mary Stahl, Boulder, Colo.; mother-in-law, Helen Swank, Austin and many other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ted Kolb; mother, Marvel Kolb; brothers, Ron and Tom Kolb; and most recently by her husband, Ronald Swank on July 22, 2009.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, August 24, at 1:15 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association. The casket bearers will be Jeff Aspenson, Dan Aspenson, Randy Kolb, Dick Kolb, Andy Stahl and Andrew Hagan.
