Marlys Jean Kubista, age 70 of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Friday morning, Aug. 28, 2009 at Owatonna Commons in Owatonna, Minn. 
She was born Feb. 25, 1939 to Raymond and Elizabeth (Slinger) Hofius in Westfield Township, Dodge County, Minn. where she grew up and attended country school.  After graduation from Blooming Prairie High School, Marlys worked as a housekeeper and babysitter, as well as raising livestock. 
She married Arden Kubista in 1974.  They made their home in Blooming Prairie where Marlys was a member of First Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed being on the farm, raising livestock, attending farm auctions and sale barns.  Arden passed away in 2007.
Survivors include brothers: Dale Hofius, Blooming Prairie, John Hofius, Orangevale, Calif.; sister: Marilyn Hofius, St. Charles, Minn.; nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arden; sister, Shirley Hovey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating.  Friends may call at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 4- to 7 p.m., Monday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Union Cemetery, rural Bixby.  The family prefers memorials to Dialysis Foundation.
