LaVonne Bernadette Biedermann, 94, of Austin, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.
LaVonne was born March 2, 1915 in Warren, Minn. to Albert and Georganna (Marsonette) Kriel.  On July 15, 1939 she was united in marriage to George Biedermann. 
LaVonne was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for her young family and later for her grandchildren.  In her later years she turned her skills toward doll-making with many Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls going to her grandchildren.  She crocheted a number of afghans in her leisure hours and gave them to family and friends. LaVonne was a homemaker and also worked as a dental assistant.
LaVonne had a love of music which she instilled in her children, teaching them to play piano and encouraging them to pursue various instruments.  There were many family gatherings accompanied by impromptu concerts.  Her love for baking and cooking are well-known and have been passed down over the years. Her family members still use many of her hand written recipes.
In most recent years at Primrose and Comforcare, LaVonne enjoyed playing card games, bingo, and Trivial Pursuit, but never more than when she was a winner!  She was a warm and caring lady who appreciated the kindness of others.
Survivors include five children: Stephen (Bonnie) Biedermann, Palm Coast, Fla., Mary Kay (Skip) Stevens, Henderson, Nev., Michael (Ruth) Biedermann, Austin, Greg (Rebecca) Biedermann, Lindstrom, Minn., Monica (Joe) Mendez, Rockford, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Donna (Ralph) Hunt, Thief River Falls, Minn.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Biedermann, in December 1982; her grandson, Gabriel Biedermann, in November 1997.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating.  Friends may call one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the activities department at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in LaVonne’s honor.
