Keith L. Askland, 81
Keith LaVerne Askland, 81, of Rose Creek, formerly of rural St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 peacefully in his sleep.
Keith was born August 15, 1927 in Slater, Iowa to Kermit B. and Mary (Lyons) Askland. He lived all his life on a farm until 12 years ago when he moved to Rose Creek. In his spare time, Keith loved to work on model cars and puzzles. He was a member of Six Mile Grove Church.
Survivors include a brother, K.B. (Sandy) Askland, Austin; nephews and nieces, Kermit (Lorie) Askland, London, Minn., Timothy Askland, Col. Merrily Madero, San Antonio, Texas, Frank E. Dente, Bay City, Mich., Connie (Bill) Hardwick, Austin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a niece and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at Mayer Funeral Home with Pastor Lydia Mittag officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and also one hour before the service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
