Jacquelyn Marie Mittun, 77
Jacquelyn Marie Mittun, 77, of Austin, died at Austin Medical Center on July 10, 2009. 
She was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Fosston, Minn., the daughter of John and Marie (Swanson) Milne. She graduated from Fosston High School and then continued her education at the Minnesota School of Business and worked as a secretary in Minneapolis. On June 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to James Allen Mittun in Grand Forks, N.D. They made their home in Moorhead and later Breckenridge, Minn., before moving to Austin in 1966. While living in Austin, Jacquelyn worked as a teacher’s aide at Shaw School. She was member of the First United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid. She was an Elks member and a volunteer for the Reach for Recovery Program at the Austin Medical Center. She was a member of Federated Women, the Faculty Wives and was a volunteer for the Red Cross. She enjoyed walks, playing bridge and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends. James died on Feb. 4, 2004. 
Jacquelyn is survived by three children: Mary Lynn (Jack) Irby, Durango, Colo., Patricia Jo (Rob) Hunter, Salida, Colo. and Michael (Victoria) Mittun, Chandler, Ariz.; seven grandchildren: Christen Irby, Maghan McKevitt, Wynne Hunter, Jacquelyn Hunter, Braden Mittun, Carson Mittun and Gabrielle Mittun; sister, Muriel (David) Leavitt, Mohall, N.D.; and many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Ross Milne and James Milne.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pat Toschak officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. There will be no visitation or reviewal. The Worlein Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
